Boston Bound!

Congratulations to Camelia and Blair for qualifying for Boston! Camelia picked up 3rd place female master as well! Gordon although unhappy with his time had a much better race than his marathon debut! The passion is back! All in all a good day for the West Ashley group!

Thanks Gordon! I believe that all of us had a great race, and even if overall results may be a little bit behind expectations, do not forget that we are all very competitive people and we significantly improved our previous times. First of all, I we have to be satisfied that we made it all well and uninjured to the start and the race went uneventful!(as far as injuries). I saw several people literally limping and in pain (more than the "usual pain") during the last miles.
As far as my race (first marathon experience), all I can tell is that I had a great time (and splits) and I was on pace for an under 3:28 marathon until I hit mile 23- when I had bonked! (no surprise). So I had to learn the hard way that running a minute faster that the predicted pace until the mile 23 had a price to it. I listened very carefully to what you all have told me all along, yet I fell into a common trap of feeling too good until late in the race, and of course, then I learned that "THE WALL" is indeed a steep mountain.
Overall I feel good, with the exception of a tight L calf (which I never had before) and sore ITbands. See you all next weekend.

Hi All. Congratulations on successful and (almost completely) enjoyable runs. Glad you're injury free. Blair and Cami, CONGRATS on your amazing Boston qualifying times. Gordon, your time was excellent AND you finished well, feeling good, and have gotten the 'marathon bug' back! Relax all of you, recover well, and enjoy the great runs you all had today. See you all soon.

Congrats you guys - great job - I almost ran as one Molly Joseph (my sister in law) but figured the 40something ladies wouldn't appreciate a false result affecting their age group positions. It's pretty sad a race like that doesn't allow transfers - esp at Marathon distance - it's not something you can do at a week's notice. I return to Colorado on Wednesday. May see you at the track on Tuesday night
