More and better

We've had a couple of new folks join us the last couple of weekends. We hope that the coming spring will bring out some more runners. This past Sunday we had a group of five that went from a little over 12 all the way up to 24 (it's my last long one before Myrtle Beach). The weather cooperated with us a bit more this time. No rain and it was mostly a tail wind coming back.

Hope to see everyone on Tuesday evening.

Winter weather

Colder temps have slowed down our workout times. But hopefully this will pay dividends when the weather warms up. We had a good crowd on Tuesday night. The workouts varied from mile repeats on down to 400's.

On Sunday, I'll be there at 7:00. I've got my last really long run before tapering for Myrtle Beach. But I imagine that most of the crowd will want to do between 12 and 14.

What's the consensus?

That which does not kill me...

Okay, weather conditions have not be optimal the last couple of group runs. In fact, the last four hard workouts I've done have been under rotten conditions (cold, wind, rain). I suppose we could convince ourselves that this has helped our training.

Sunday morning doesn't promise to be balmy. But right now, the weather forecast puts Sunday as the warmest day of the week, sunny and 57 degrees (rain is predicted for later that evening).

I've got 22 on my calendar. I'll be there at 7:00.

It could have been worse...

...although I'm not sure how. Okay, it rained. But it didn't rain the whole time. It started around mile 8 and stopped around mile 14. And it was windy, really windy up on the bridge. But it wasn't too cold.

Cami, Gordon and I ran through the first 8 together, which helped a great deal. At my turnaround point, I happened to chance on Bob Schlau beginning his run. We ran together and chatted for about a mile. That also helped.

So all in all, it was a good run. But also a good day for an afternoon nap. See everyone on Tuesday.

Today's Story

For those who haven't seen it, click here for David Quick's P&C story about Maurice. It's a sobering reminder that no amount of exercise insulates us from issues like this.

For Sunday's long run, I've got 20 on my calendar (Myrtle Beach is looming). But I'm sure the rest of the crowd is up for something shorter. What's on the menu?

New Toys

The Garmin Forerunners were in full bloom on Sunday. We had a variety of distances. Some went about 12 miles. A couple of us pushed it up to 18. The weather was foggy but otherwise perfect, mild and no wind. Hopefully we'll see a big new year's crowd at the track on Tuesday. I plan to be there.

Ready for the New Year?

Okay, with holiday gluttony behind us, are we ready to get back on track? I've got 18 on my schedule, but I might have to be flexible. I'm just coming down off a cold. But I'll be there tomorrow, 7:00 a.m. The weather looks like it will be agreeable.
